8 Days Left in the Health First Network National Live Healthy, Give Healthy Campaign

June 1, 2017

JUNE 1, BURLINGTON, ON – Health First Network’s first annual National Live Healthy, Give Healthy Community Food Drive campaign, wrapping on June 9, 2017, has just eight days left to raise $10,000 in food and funds in support of Every Plate Full, Canada’s largest summer food drive. The campaign aims to help the thousands of Canadians facing hunger, by seeking nutritious food donations to ensure the accessibility of healthy food for everyone and contributing to better health. Support for food banks is at its lowest during the summer months, while demand from users remains steady. According to Food Banks Canada, food bank reliance is on the rise. Almost 1 million Canadians will access a food bank this summer, 37% of this group being children.

“We are thrilled to launch the Live Healthy, Give Healthy campaign in support of Every Plate Full to help raise awareness about the need for nutritious donations to food banks during the summer,” says Emily Kinread, director of marketing for Health First Network. “Being healthy starts with access to healthy food, making it a natural fit to partner with our member stores that are all health- and wellness-focused. For every dollar donated, we can provide up to three nutritious meals to hungry Canadians.”

“Eating better helps people feel better,” says Kinread. “At Health First Network, we believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food. For every dollar donated, we can provide up to three nutritious meals to hungry Canadians.”

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated, with a strong desire to receive items with high nutritional content, including whole grains, canned proteins, dairy alternatives, and low-/no-sodium canned vegetables. Food and monetary donations can be made online at, where there is also a list of participating retailers across the country.
