Multi-talented and internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, Wes Mason, releases debut self-titled EP

August 8, 2017

Toronto, ON (August 8, 2017) - Wes Mason, an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, is set to release his debut self-titled EP, Wes Mason, on August 15. Three songs off this EP are semi-finalists in the Pop/Top40 and Screen Shot categories of international Unsigned Only Music Competition, where the title track, Worth it was a finalist. The EP, written by Mason, includes his critically acclaimed debut single, Worth It, and recently released, Consequence. Mason’s storytelling songwriting style combined with unique instrumental pairings of the violin, cello and synthesizer, can be seen as a fusion of Ed Sheeran (storytelling) meets Coldplay (instrumentals).

“These songs are about my personal experiences,” says Wes Mason. “I’m so excited to share them through my music with the world.”

Mason’s musical inspirations come from pop, folk, rap and rock music. His self-titled EP showcases his growth as a musician with themes of self-reflection, relationships, love and heartbreak. The track list features, Touch The Sky, written by Mason at age 15, which was a finalist in the Teen Category and semi-finalist in the Adult Contemporary Category of the UK Songwriting Competition in 2016. His pop-folk storytelling style is heard throughout the EP, with influences from various musical geniuses including U2, The Beatles, Kid Cudi and Kanye West.

Mason’s heartfelt lyrics accompanied by the cello, violin and synthesizer paired with pop sounds of the bass, guitar and drums, create a unique musical fusion. Some musicians who collaborated on the EP include, Chris Gartner, bass (Garth Hudson and Barenaked Ladies), Chris Sutherland, drums (Cyndi Lauper, Saga, Tom Cochrane, Randy Bachman and Kim Mitchell), Jim Sitterly, violin, (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Jurassic World and Katy Perry) Kevan Torfeh, cello (Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, and Star Trek). The EP was produced by Turbo Zebra (AKA Ben Pelchat) of Toronto recording studio Kensington Sound.
