TORONTO, ON (Monday, October 2 )- Las Minas Puerto Flamenco is set to perform its breathtaking show on its only Canadian stop on a seven city world tour on Friday, October 13 at 8:00 p.m. at the Elgin Theatre (189 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON). Tickets are priced from $19 - $72 and available on ticketmaster. The 100 minute show, consists of eleven award-winning artists (dancers, guitarists, singers, percussionists as well as a flamenco flute and saxophone) each trained in a unique aspect of traditional Flamenco. Las Minas Puerto Flamenco is bringing this Spanish cultural tradition to the international stage, already completing shows in Johannesburg, Sydney, Melbourne, Chicago, Dubai and Mexico City. The final three shows include Toronto, Quito and the closing show in Santiago, treating Toronto audiences to an authentic award-winning performance.

“We are proud to be bringing the art and culture of Spain to Canada,” says Ángel Rojas, show director. “Each member of our cast has trained tirelessly to perfect their art”.

The eleven artists, over ten acts, tell the story of two men duelling for the love of a woman through dance, song and percussion. The energetic show takes you through the history of flamenco and its interaction with world music genres. Directed by Ángel Rojas, Las Minas Puerto Flamenco is a full artistic performance which includes dancers Yolanda Osuna, Juan Fernandez and Juan De Juan, guitarists Jose Tomas Jimenez and Javier Ibanez, singers Gema Caballero, Bernardo Miranda and Manu Soto, percussionist Lolo Planton as well as Flamenco flutist Oscar De Manual and Flamenco saxophonist Sergio De Lope. Costumes are designed by Francis Montesinos, Golden Needle award-winning European designer, who has been making beautifully creative and eccentric outfits for the runway and stage since 1972. The story, music, artistry and culture stays with audience members long after they leave the show.

In 2012, the Las Minas Puerto Flamenco tour was founded as an initiative to promote Flamenco globally after winning numerous Mining Lamp awards at the International Flamenco Festival of Cante de las Minas, the most important event in the world of Flamenco. Originating in Mexico City, the tour has now travelled across five continents, making Toronto the only stop in Canada. The art of Flamenco has been recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, and thanks to the show’s title sponsor Acciona, Toronto will be treated to a night of traditional Flamenco and Spanish culture.

The cast will be in Toronto starting Thursday, October 12 and available for media interviews. For media accreditation, interview requests, photos, show tickets and more details please contact ana@glocommunications.ca
